Nice to meet you!
I’m Gaëlle – a designer, adventurer, and globetrotter from Annecy. From a young age, travel has been second nature to me. I grew up surrounded by suitcases and postcards, discovering the world through my parents’ journeys. Today, with over 80 countries explored, I share my passions here: adventure, photography, and uncovering new horizons. Whether you’re traveling solo or with company, let me inspire and guide you!
My beginnings: A taste for elsewhere
It was at Pointe-à-Pitre airport in Guadeloupe that I took my very first steps (quite literally!) in “the waiting hall.” From an early age, travel became second nature to me. After completing a degree in Germany, spending a year in Australia, and another in Scotland, I packed my bags for an entirely new adventure in Japan.
It was at Pointe à Pitre airport in Guadeloupe that I took my first steps: my parents have always loved traveling and gave me the bug. After studying my BA in Germany, worked a year in Australia, I moved to Japan.
Japan: My first love
My passion for aviation took me to Tokyo, where I worked as a flight attendant for All Nippon Airways (ANA). From Japanese training sessions on evacuating an aircraft to mastering the art of Omotenashi (Japanese-style hospitality), I immersed myself in the culture and beauty of Japan daily.
From springtime under Kyoto’s cherry blossoms to skiing on a volcano in winter, every season gifted me unforgettable memories. Even after leaving the country to return to my career as a graphic designer, Japan remains a part of me. I return every year, like one always returns to a place that feels like home.
London: A new chapter
After nearly three years in Japan, I moved to London to pursue a Master’s in Design. My relationship with London is a love-hate affair: I constantly complain about the weather, yet the city has given me countless opportunities. During my studies, I often escaped to faraway destinations—surfing in Hawaii, riding motorbikes in Bali, canyoning in Jordan, or exploring temples in Myanmar.
Specializing in luxury design, I found myself traveling every two to three months, uncovering unexpected destinations like Serbia and Belarus along the way.
From Annecy to Saudi Arabia
The pandemic brought me back to Annecy, where I rediscovered my home region. Surrounded by waterfalls and hiking trails, I reconnected with nature—a much-needed balance during such uncertain times. Once the borders reopened, I felt a strong urge to change direction.
That’s when I set off for Saudi Arabia, where I had the privilege of working on the visionary NEOM project. This little-known region left a deep impression on me: its mountains, deserts, and people inspired me in ways few other places ever have.
Today, I’m also working towards my private pilot’s license because, even though I’ve left the aviation industry, flying remains a passion I’m determined to keep alive.
Why this website?
This website is a reflection of my journey: Japan, my first love; the hiking trails and waterfalls of my hometown, Annecy; and the vast deserts of Saudi Arabia. It’s a space where my experiences, anecdotes, and discoveries intertwine. Originally created for friends and family, the site is now celebrating its 7th anniversary!
I approach travel much like life itself: without overplanning. If there’s one lesson I’ve learned along the way, it’s that the best surprises often come from the unexpected
Let me inspire you
